Above and Beyond: NASA鈥檚 Journey to Tomorrow
George Bush Presidential Library and Museum
College Station, TX
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of NASA, Rory Kennedy, documentary filmmaker and niece of President John F. Kennedy, created 鈥淎bove and Beyond: NASA鈥檚 Journey to Tomorrow.鈥 The film takes a look at the history of NASA, the work it鈥檚 doing today, and where it hopes to go in the future. It is 90 minutes in length, so we are hoping to show clips of the film and use those to illustrate a panel discussion. Proposed panelists include former Astronaut and Aggie Michael Fossum as moderator; Rory Kennedy (filmmaker); Scott Kelly, Peggy Whitson and Rusty Schweickart (Astronauts featured in the film); and Bill Barry (NASA historian). There is a large environmental component in the film that we need to be aware of. The film will be shown in its entirety on the Discovery Channel on Saturday, October 13.
