Addiction, a documentary produced for PBS鈥檚 NOVA, examines how easy access to drugs like heroin, fentanyl, and even prescription medications like OxyContin has fueled an epidemic of addiction鈥攖he deadliest in U.S. history. Now, science is revealing how addiction affects the brain, and top experts are gathering evidence about how we should address our drug problem, from embracing evidence-based treatments to rethinking public policies.

Following the screening,听Miles O鈥橞rien, National Science Correspondent for听PBS NewsHour, will moderate a panel discussion including:听Sarah Holt, Producer, Director, Writer,听Addiction;听Admiral James 鈥淪andy鈥� Winnefeld听and听Mary Winnefeld, Co-Founders of SAFE Project;听Dr. Nora Volkow, Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse at the National Institutes of Health;听Dr. Corey Waller, principal at Health Management Associates and chairman of the Legislative Advocacy Committee for the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM); and听Martha R. Temple, CEO, Optum Behavioral Health.听
