One of the most complicated friendships during Harry Truman鈥檚 life was his long-lasting relationship with Tom Pendergast, who became a Kansas City political kingpin in the early 1930s through his use of strong-arm tactics and personal wealth. Harry Truman鈥檚 success in politics was initially attributed to support from Pendergast. It was later in his career that this connection to the boss of Kansas City almost led to his political defeat as he had to overcome the impression that he was the 鈥淪enator from Pendergast.鈥澨鼿istorian Dr. Jon Taylor will discuss their political alliance while guests enjoy a tasting of Tom鈥檚 Town鈥檚 award-winning spirits.
