Out of the Archives: The Atomic Bomb

Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum
Online

Thursday, July 30, 2020 - 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CDT

More than any other decision in his presidency, Harry S. Truman is perhaps most known for dropping the atomic bombs that ended World War II. Among the Truman Library鈥檚 collection is a number of fascinating artifacts and documents from this eventful moment in history, from the sketch of the first atomic bomb鈥檚 explosion in New Mexico to the safety plug pulled from Fat Man.

Please join us for a 75th anniversary webinar exploring Truman鈥檚 decision to drop the bomb featuring Truman Library Education Director Mark Adams as he highlights 10 artifacts from the Library鈥檚 collection related to this historic decision. The program will tell the story of the world-changing event while offering a preview of artifacts on display in the Truman Library鈥檚 new permanent exhibition reopening later this year.

This 75th anniversary program is generously sponsored by Speaks Chapel.
