Special Preview Screening of The Best of Enemies

Based on a true story, The Best of Enemies centers on the unlikely relationship between Ann Atwater (Taraji P. Henson), an outspoken civil rights activist, and C. P. Ellis (Sam Rockwell), a local Ku Klux Klan leader, who reluctantly co-chaired a community summit about desegregation of schools in Durham, NC, during the racially charged summer of 1971. The incredible events that unfolded would change Durham and the lives of Atwater and Ellis forever. The Best of Enemies opens in theaters nationwide April 5, 2019. This screening is presented by the 2020 One Woman One Vote Festival with the support of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Foundation.
Congressman G. K. Butterfield of North Carolina will introduced the film, and following the screening, civil rights activist and journalist Courtland Cox will moderate a discussion with Osha Gray Davidson, the author of the source book, and Lottie Joiner, editor-in-chief of the NAACP鈥檚 magazine,听The Crisis.
Rightfully Hers, a new exhibit to mark the centennial of the 19th Amendment, will open this year. Rightfully Hers is made possible in part by the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Foundation through the generous support of Unilever, Pivotal Ventures, Carl M.
