David Bailie Warden, M.D., (1778-1845) was born in Ireland and became a citizen of the United States. Correspondence, diaries, scientific notes and articles, business records, historical notes, and other papers relating chiefly to Warden's service as private secretary to John Armstrong, U.S. minister to France, (1804-1808), and later, as U.S. consul at Paris (1808-1814). This edition includes his personal papers (1797–1845), and his work as an author, and book collector. Correspondents include John Armstrong, Daniel Brent, Albert Gallatin, John Graham, Thomas Jefferson, the Marquis de Lafayette, John Howard Payne, John Rogers, and George Ticknor.
