Morris Hillquit (1869–1933) was a founder and leader of the Socialist Party of America and prominent labor lawyer in New York City's Lower East Side during the early 20th century. Hillquit is best remembered as a two-time candidate for Mayor of New York. His personal papers (1895-1943) include correspondence, speeches, articles, and lectures. The correspondence provides an excellent source of information on Socialist Party conventions, national executive committee meetings, and international social congresses.
