Richard Franklin Pettigrew (1848Ìý–1926) was an American lawyer, surveyor, and land developer. He represented the Dakota Territory in the U.S. Congress and, after the Dakotas were admitted as States, he was the first U.S. Senator from South Dakota. The papers of the United States senator from South Dakota who espoused anti-imperialist views in his book The Course of Empire and presented an inside look at the Senate in Triumphant Plutocracy, later retitled Imperial Washington.
