William J. Gaston (1778 鈥�1844) was a jurist and United States Representative from North Carolina. Gaston is the author of the official state song of North Carolina, 鈥淭he Old North State.鈥� The papers include those of Judge Henry Groves Connor, who collected materials for a biography of Gaston.
