William Thornton (1759 -1828) was the architect of the U.S. Capitol and Superintendent of Patents from 1802 until his death. He designed the Library Company of Philadelphia, Prospect Hill, the Octagon House, Woodlawn, and Tudor Place. This collection is a selection of letters and documents from his career.
