In September, the 威尼斯人娱乐场 and Records Administration presents film screenings relating to Hispanic Heritage Month and the Washington premiere of the documentary on film preservation, Keepers of the Frame (1999).
The screenings will be held in the theater of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building, Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, and in the auditorium of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 at College Park, which is located at 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD. All programs are free and open to the public. Free parking is available at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 at College Park. The times and dates may be verified by calling the 威尼斯人娱乐场 public events line at (201) 501-5000. The hearing impaired should call TDD (202) 501-5404 for information.
Please Note: The theater at the downtown 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building is equipped with a system that allows the hearing-impaired to use a set of headphones, or neck loop and a small receiver, to enhance the volume of the public address system. Visitors may request these devices in the projection booth.

Friday, September 10鈥擣ilm Preservation (Washington Premiere)
Keepers of the Frame, released in 1999. Every day our cinematic history fades and shrinks. This new documentary examines the history, science, and struggles of film preservation. The film stresses not only the need to preserve Hollywood classics but also "actualities," newsreels, early films made by African Americans, avant-garde films, ethnographic studies, musical performances, and even amateur home movies. Featuring appearances by Alan Alda, Debbie Reynolds, and Roddy McDowall. Produced by Randy Gitsch. Directed by Mark Mclaughlin. (70 minutes.) Noon and 7 P.M. Theater.
Friday, September 17鈥揌ispanic Heritage Month
The Lemon Grove Incident, released in 1985. This award-winning documentary examines the July 1930 incident in Lemon Grove, CA, when the Mexican American community successfully challenged the school board decision to segregate students. (58 minutes.) Noon. Theater.
Friday, September 24鈥擧ispanic Heritage Month
The Bay of Pigs, released in 1998. Featuring interviews with combat veterans, historians, journalists, and U.S. Government officials, as well as members of the Cuban government and military, this recent documentary presents new perspectives on the notorious attempt to overthrow Fidel Castro in 1962. Produced by Oregon Public Television. (60 minutes.) Noon. Theater.
