GET AN EARLY START ON JULY 4TH STORIES - INTERVIEW THE EXPERTS

On July 4, 2004 the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ will celebrate the 228th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Interview experts who have studied and touched history – exhibition curators and conservators who helped preserve the Charters of Freedom – the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. These documents were painstakingly examined, documented, treated and moved to new, state-of-the-art encasements custom-made of titanium and aluminum. These precious documents were reopened to the public on September 18, 2003.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES EXPERTS AVAILABLE FOR INTERVIEWS:

Stacey Bredhoff – Curator of the "New World is at Hand" exhibit that surrounds the Charters of Freedom and presents a selection of milestone documents from our nation’s history, including the Louisiana Purchase.

Milton Gustafson – Senior archivist and expert on the history and travels of the Charters of Freedom.

Doris Hamburg – Director of Preservation Programs at the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡. Oversaw the restoration of the Charters of Freedom.

Rick Judson – Oversaw the physical design and reencasement of the Charters of Freedom.

Mary Lynn Ritzenthaler - Chief of the Document Conservation Laboratory of the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡. Helped restore the Charters of Freedom.

Catherine Nicholson - Supervisory conservator in the Document Conservation Laboratory of the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡. Helped restore the Charters of Freedom.
