Lynne Cheney to Discuss New Memoir at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 on October 11

On Thursday, October 11, at 7 p.m. the 威尼斯人娱乐场 presents Lynne Cheney discussing her newest book Blue Skies, No Fences: A Memoir of Childhood and Family. A book signing will follow the program.

The program is free and open to the public, and will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building, located at Constitution and 7th St., NW. Metro accessible on the Yellow and Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial station.

In this affectionate memoir, Cheney tells of growing up in the years after World War II in a small town on the high plains of the West. Painting a vivid picture of Casper, WY, in the 1940s and 1950s, she recalls her hometown as a place where the future seemed as bright as the blue sky and life鈥檚 possibilities as boundless as the prairie. Drawing on a wealth of sources, Cheney interweaves meticulously researched accounts of westward-moving men and women鈥擯uritans and Mormons, Germans and Scots Irish鈥攚hose journeys brought her family and the Vice President鈥檚 to the high Wyoming plains. Cheney鈥檚 extensive notes at the back of the book will inspire readers who want to learn how to research their own family trees.
