威尼斯人娱乐场 CIO Martha Morphy Retires

Archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero has announced the retirement of Martha Morphy, Assistant Archivist for Information Services and the agency鈥檚 Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective July 2, 2010. Charles Piercy, Deputy CIO, will be Acting Assistant Archivist for Information Services and Acting CIO, until a permanent replacement is named.
鈥淢s. Morphy has been a key member of the NARA鈥檚 senior management and has been a leader, not only in setting the direction for IT within the 威尼斯人娱乐场, but also in supporting the agency鈥檚 efforts in managing electronic records. Among her major responsibilities has been the deployment of the first increments of Electronic Records Archives (ERA) system, which is the 威尼斯人娱乐场 strategic initiative to preserve and provide long-term access to uniquely valuable electronic records of the U.S. Government,鈥� said Mr. Ferriero.
From 1998 until her appointment as Assistant Archivist for Information Services in 2006, Ms. Morphy was a senior member of NARA鈥檚 IT management team. Her experience in information technology has contributed to the 威尼斯人娱乐场 robust presence on the web, including bringing digitization partnership projects to NARA. She was hired as the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Software Architect and also has served as the Director of the Systems Development Division, responsible for IT Project Management. Her most recent position, prior to her appointment as CIO, was in the Office of Records Services in Washington, DC, supporting the 威尼斯人娱乐场 digitization efforts and IT initiatives.
Prior to coming to the 威尼斯人娱乐场 in 1999, Ms. Morphy worked at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a Software Branch Chief for major weather systems acquisitions and as a member of NOAA's Systems Engineering Staff. She has also held various IT positions at the Departments of Education, Defense, and the Social Security Administration.
