Thirteenth annual symposium to focus on "The Latest in Lincoln Scholarship"

The ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ hosts a daylong symposium, The Latest in Lincoln Scholarship, on Saturday, March 20, 2010, from 9 a.m.–6 p.m., at the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ at College Park, MD. The symposium will provide historical insight into some of the most critically important facets of Lincoln’s Presidency. Archivist David S. Ferriero will provide opening remarks.

The ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ at College Park, MD, is located at 8601 Adelphi Road, and is fully accessible. See directions.

The Latest in Lincoln Scholarship sessions include:

  • When Booth Gave Lincoln Roses - Terry Alford, professor of history, Northern Virginia Community College–Annandale
     
  • Reading with Lincoln - Robert C. Bray, R. Forest Colwell Professor of American Literature, Illinois Wesleyan University
     
  • Robert Todd Lincoln: First Son, Presidential Confidant, and Civil War Soldier - Jason Emerson, independent historian and freelance writer
     
  • Lincoln’s Growth and America’s - William W. Freehling, Singletary Professor of the Humanities Emeritus, University of Kentucky
     
  • Lincoln as a Naval War Leader - Craig L. Symonds, professor emeritus, United States Naval Academy

The Abraham Lincoln Institute Book Award and the Nicolay-Hay Award will be presented at the symposium.
