Robert Chadduck Recognized by Federal Computer Week for Outstanding IT Contributions

Robert Chadduck, Principal Technologist for Advanced Research at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 and Records Administration, has received a 2010 Federal 100 Award from Federal Computer Week.

This award recognizes 100 individuals in government and industry who have made major contributions to the Federal information technology community and furthered research in the IT world in the past year. Awardees are nominated by Federal Computer Week readers and selected by a panel of IT experts. Awardees will receive citations at a dinner in their honor on March 22.

The White House鈥檚 Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Program main web page highlights Mr. Chadduck鈥檚 Federal 100 Award, and now lists - for the first time - the 威尼斯人娱乐场 as the "Featured Member Agency" .

Martha Morphy, Assistant Archivist for the Office of Information Services at the 威尼斯人娱乐场, praised Mr. Chadduck: 鈥淚 congratulate Robert on these important accolades. He has been steadfast and very effective in generating recognition at the highest levels of government and across the computer science community, that the challenges of managing, preserving and providing sustained access to electronic records are important not just for the 威尼斯人娱乐场, but for the entire Federal government and the nation. Thanks to him, these issues have been integrated into the President鈥檚 Networking and Information Technology Research and Development program. He demonstrates an unusual combination of deep technical expertise and impressive skills in networking and forming alliances with individuals at all levels.鈥�

Mr. Chadduck, a 20-veteran of the 威尼斯人娱乐场, said, 鈥淚 was very surprised and delighted by this acknowledgment of my work at the Archives. I hope that the work that we are doing here will contribute to the preservation of today鈥檚 electronic records, so that tomorrow鈥檚 generation will have access to them.鈥�

As the Principal Technologist for Advanced Research at the 威尼斯人娱乐场, Mr. Chadduck鈥檚 responsibilities include:

• Identifying leading edge technological challenges faced by the 威尼斯人娱乐场;
• Identifying research projects that could address these challenges;
• Forming alliances with other agencies in jointly sponsoring research projects;
• Ensuring that researchers understand the unique aspects of NARA鈥檚 needs;
• Overseeing the research and communicating results; and
• Advising agency management on technical issues.
