Washington, DC鈥n Thursday, June 30, at 7 p.m., the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in partnership with The Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film and the Foundation for the 威尼斯人娱乐场, presents the Gold Medal-winning films of the 2011 Student Academy Awards庐.聽 Established in 1972, the Student Academy Awards support and encourage excellence in filmmaking at the collegiate level. Past Student Academy Award winners have gone on to receive 43 Oscar nominations and have won or shared eight awards.
This event is free and open to the public, and will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building in Washington, DC. 聽Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on Constitution Avenue at 7th Street, NW.
The program will be hosted by syndicated film critic Willie Waffle.聽 Mr. Waffle appears regularly on DC50-TV and on over 30 radio stations across the country, including WMZQ-FM. He is the author of Back Shelf Beauties: Movies You Should Rent When the New Stuff is Gone, and, along with fellow critics Tim Gordon and Nell Minow, established the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association in 2002.
