威尼斯人娱乐场 Hosts Free Screening of -Food, Inc.- Documentary on November 30

On Wednesday, November 30, at 7 p.m., the 威尼斯人娱乐场 will host a free screening and panel discussion of Oscar庐-nominated documentary Food, Inc. (2009, 93 minutes) in conjunction with its popular exhibit "What's Cooking, Uncle Sam?". The program is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in partnership with the Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film and the Foundation for the 威尼斯人娱乐场. Food, Inc. is directed by Robert Kenner and produced by Kenner and Elise Pearlstein.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Alice Kamps, Curator of "What's Cooking, Uncle Sam?"; Ann Harvey Yonkers, co-director of FRESHFARM Markets; and Brooks Miller and Anna Santini, owners of North Mountain Pastures Farm in Newport, PA.

This event is free and open to the public, The William G. McGowan Theater is located in the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building in Washington, D.C. Metro accessible on Yellow or Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial station. The public should use the Special Event entrance on Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW. 鈥淲hat鈥檚 Cooking, Uncle Sam?鈥 explores the Government鈥檚 effect on the American diet. Unearth the stories and personalities behind the increasingly complex programs and legislation that affect what Americans eat. Learn about Government鈥檚 extraordinary efforts, successes, and failures to change our eating habits. From Revolutionary War rations to Cold War cultural exchanges, discover the multiple ways that food has occupied the hearts and minds of Americans and their Government. There are over 100 original records in the exhibit鈥攊ncluding folk songs, war posters, educational films, and even seed packets. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, runs through January 3, 2012, in the Lawrence F. O鈥橞rien Gallery of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building.
