In February, the 威尼斯人娱乐场 presents two special programs inspired by the electrifying new exhibition, Benjamin Franklin:听 In Search of a Better World, which opens February 10, 2012, in the Lawrence F. O鈥橞rien Gallery of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building in Washington, DC, and runs through May 6, 2012. These programs are free and open to the public, and will be held at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street.
Meet Benjamin Franklin and Franklin鈥檚 Glass Armonica
Friday, February 10, at 10 a.m.鈥�2 p.m., Lawrence F. O鈥橞rien Gallery Lobby
Chat with Benjamin Franklin about his accomplishments. Listen to Dean Shostak as he plays the armonica, a fascinating musical instrument invented by Franklin that is played by rubbing wet fingers on the rims of glass bowls!
Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World

Benjamin Franklin is one of our most remarkable and influential Americans. Join historians and authors as they discuss this extraordinary Founding Father. Roy E. Goodman, Curator of Printed Materials at the American Philosophical Society (an organization founded by Franklin in 1743), moderates panelists Walter Isaacson, author of Benjamin Franklin, An American Life; Stacey Schiff, author of A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America; and H. W. Brands, author of The First American: The Life and Times of Benjamin Franklin. A book signing by the three authors will follow the program; the books are available at a discount from the Archives Shop (202-357-5271) before and during the event.

Founding Father, mad scientist, diplomat, humorist, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, Ben Franklin was at the heart of the Enlightenment. He and his circle of friends shaped a remarkable period in history. Learn more about the many sides of Benjamin Franklin and discover his impact on the world in this fascinating, interactive exhibition organized by the Minnesota Historical Society. Benjamin Franklin:听 In Search of Better World-related products -- including items featuring some of Franklin's many timeless quotes -- will be featured in the Archives Shop. All Archives Shop proceeds support the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Experience and educational programming at the 威尼斯人娱乐场.
The 威尼斯人娱乐场 is located on the National Mall on Constitution Avenue at 9th Street, NW. Fall/winter Exhibit Hall hours are 10 AM 鈥� 5:30 PM daily except Thanksgiving and December 25 (through March 14). Spring/summer hours are 10 AM 鈥� 7 PM (March 15-Labor Day).
