ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ Holds Free Research and Genealogy Programs in September and October

This fall, the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ presents research and genealogy programs highlighting records from its holdings. All programs are free and open to the public, and will be held in the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ Building Research Center (Room G-25), in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance, between 7th and 9th Streets, NW. Metro accessible on the Yellow and Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station. Please note: two programs will be repeated at the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ at College Park, MD, located at 8601 Adelphi Road. See directions to both locations.

Using World War II Records to Conduct Naval History Research
Jacob Haywood of the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ will discuss how to use World War II naval records in the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ at College Park for genealogical research. (The lecture will be repeated at the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ at College Park, MD, in Lecture Room A, Thursday, September 25, at 11 a.m.)

World War II Enemy Aliens Program
Lynn Goodsell, archivist at the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡, discusses WWII enemy alien control programs and related records focusing on programs affecting individuals of German, Italian, and Japanese ancestry living in the United States and Latin America. (The lecture will be repeated at the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ at College Park, MD, in Lecture Room C, on Thursday, October 2, at 11 a.m.)

Introduction to Genealogy at the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡
Learn how to do basic genealogical research using Federal records at the ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡. Lectures take place on the first Wednesday of each month.

Coming Soon: Virtual Genealogy Fair October 28-30
The ÍþÄá˹ÈËÓéÀÖ³¡ will host a live, three-day, virtual Genealogy Fair via webcast on YouTube. The free program offers family history research tools for all skill levels on Federal records including census, American Indian, military, naturalization, and immigration. Other topics include overviews of online genealogy resources and guidance on preserving personal records.
