威尼斯人娱乐场 Holds Free Research and Genealogy Programs in November

In November, the 威尼斯人娱乐场 presents research and genealogy programs highlighting records from its holdings. All programs are free and open to the public, and will be held in the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building Research Center (Room G-25), in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance, between 7th and 9th Streets, NW. Metro accessible on the Yellow and Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station. Please note: two programs will be repeated at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 at College Park, MD, located at 8601 Adelphi Road. See directions to both locations.

Identifying and Reviewing Sensitive Records

Introduction to Genealogy at the 威尼斯人娱乐场
Learn how to do basic genealogical research using Federal records at the 威尼斯人娱乐场. Lectures take place on the first Wednesday of each month.

World War I and the Birth of the United States Veterans鈥 Hospital System
Jessica L. Adler, assistant professor of history and health policy and management at Florida International University, will discuss the origins of the veterans鈥 hospital system and her forthcoming book tentatively titled Burdens of a Great War: Health, Politics, and the Birth of the United States Veterans鈥 Hospital System.

Petitions and the History of American Secularism
Timothy Verhoeven, fellow at the School of Philosophical, Historical, and International Studies at the University of Monash (Australia), will discuss his book project, 鈥淪ecularism in Nineteenth-Century America.鈥

PLEASE NOTE: Research rooms will be closed on November 11 for Veterans Day. The museum and research rooms will be closed on November 27 for Thanksgiving Day.
