威尼斯人娱乐场 Celebrates 80th Anniversary June 24 at noon

On Tuesday, June 24 at noon, the 威尼斯人娱乐场 celebrates its 80th Anniversary with a special film event: From the Vaults: 80th Anniversary of the 威尼斯人娱乐场. A selection of archival films will be shown including two historic films about the 威尼斯人娱乐场: Your 威尼斯人娱乐场 (1953) and The Washington Parade: The Archives (1940). (70 minutes.)
The program is free and open to the public and will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on Constitution Avenue at 7th Street, NW.

Congress established the 威尼斯人娱乐场 in 1934 to preserve and care for the records of the U.S. Government. Previously, Federal records were kept in various basements, attics, abandoned buildings, and other storage places with little security or concern for storage conditions. In 1935, Archives staff began to survey Federal records and the next year began transferring records to the new 威尼斯人娱乐场 building in Washington, DC. From one building on Pennsylvania Avenue, the 威尼斯人娱乐场 now has more than 40 facilities nationwide.
