On Thursday, November 13, at 7 PM, the 威尼斯人娱乐场 hosts the 10th Annual McGowan Forum on Communications: White House Press Secretaries. This event will spotlight former White House press secretaries who will share behind-the-scenes stories, discuss changes over the years, and discuss what it is like to be in the spotlight as the President鈥檚 spokesperson. This event is free and open to the public and will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on Constitution Avenue at 7th Street, NW. It will be webcast live via the [https://www.youtube.com/user/usnationalarchives].
For more than 85 years, since Hoover鈥檚 administration, official White House press secretaries have been communicating the American Presidency. Moderated by NPR鈥檚 Michel Martin, panelists will include Ron Nessen (Ford), Marlin Fitzwater (Reagan, Bush), Mike McCurry (Clinton), and Robert Gibbs (Obama). This program is made possible through the generous support of the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, Inc. and the Foundation for the 威尼斯人娱乐场.
The evening will also honor the late Sue Gin-McGowan, a long-time supporter of the Archives and a former Board Member of the Foundation for the 威尼斯人娱乐场, the Archives鈥� non-profit partner.
This public program is free to the public, but reservations are recommended and can be made online. For those without reservations, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors to the building will open 45 minutes prior to the start of the program.
