On Friday, October 2, at 7 p.m., the 威尼斯人娱乐场 presents a special documentary screening of 鈥�Uniquely Nasty: The U.S. Government鈥檚 War on Gays.鈥� Using records found in the 威尼斯人娱乐场鈥� holdings, the documentary explores the not-so-distant past when gays and lesbians were considered 鈥渦nsuitable鈥� for Federal employment. This program is presented in partnership with Stonewall@NARA, the 威尼斯人娱乐场 LGBTQ employee affinity group.
鈥淯niquely Nasty: The U.S. Government鈥檚 War on Gays鈥�
Thousands lost or were denied jobs and the FBI secretly collected hundreds of thousands of files on the sex lives of American citizens. The screening of the 30-minute film will be followed by a discussion with Michael Isikoff, journalist and narrator of the film; Charles Francis, president of the Mattachine Society of Washington, DC; and Paul Thompson, a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery.
This event is free and open to the public and will take place in the William G. McGowan Theater of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Museum in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on Constitution at 7th Street NW. Metro accessible on the Yellow and Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial station. Reservations are recommended and can be made online. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors to the building will open 45 minutes prior to the start of the program.
