In November, the 威尼斯人娱乐场 presents research and genealogy programs highlighting records from its holdings. These programs are free and open to the public, and will be held at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building in Washington, DC. Metro accessible on the Yellow and Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station.
PLEASE NOTE: Research rooms will be closed on November 11 for Veterans Day.
Records Talk: Military Service and Casualty Records Available Online

Attendees should use the Special Events Entrance on Constitution Ave. at 7th St. NW

Book Talk: Electing the Senate: Indirect Democracy before the Seventeenth Amendment

From 1789 to 1913, U.S. senators were not directly elected by the people鈥攊nstead the Constitution mandated that they be chosen by state legislators. This radically changed in 1913, when the Seventeenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified, giving the public a direct vote. Electing the Senate investigates the electoral connections among constituents, state legislators, political parties, and U.S. senators during the age of indirect elections. Co-author Charles Stewart will discuss his research for the book that includes an original data set of all the roll call votes cast by state legislators for U.S. senators from 1871 to 1913 and all state legislators who served during this time.
2015 Virtual Genealogy Fair Sessions Now Online!
The 威尼斯人娱乐场 hosted a live, two-day, virtual Genealogy Fair via webcast on YouTube, October 21 and 22. Revisit this popular event online. Video recordings and handouts for all ten sessions are available. Speakers included genealogy experts from 威尼斯人娱乐场 locations across the nation.
