WHAT:
Washington, DC鈥xperts in Open Government, technology and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) will join the 威尼斯人娱乐场鈥� Office of Government Information Services (OGIS) to celebrate the Freedom of Information Act鈥檚 50th anniversary and Sunshine Week with an afternoon program. The Office of Government Information Services (OGIS) is a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) resource for the public and the government. Referred to as the FOIA Ombudsman, OGIS was created within the 威尼斯人娱乐场 when the OPEN Government Act of 2007 amended the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 搂 552). OGIS began operations in September 2009, and is charged with providing services to mediate disputes between FOIA requesters and Federal agencies; reviewing policies and procedures of administrative agencies under FOIA; reviewing agency compliance with FOIA; and recommending policy changes to the Congress and President to improve the administration of FOIA.
