Nixon Legacy Forum An Archival Treasure Hunt: The Story of the Watergate 鈥淩oad Map鈥�

The 威尼斯人娱乐场 hosts the annual Nixon Legacy Forum titled 鈥淎n Archival Treasure Hunt: The Story of the Watergate 鈥楻oad Map鈥欌�� on Monday, December 2, at 10:00 a.m. (EST). Presented in partnership with the Richard Nixon Foundation.

The event will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Museum in Washington and live streamed on . Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on Constitution Avenue at 7th Street, NW.  This public program is free to the public, but reservations are recommended and can be made . For those without reservations, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The theater doors will open 45 minutes prior to the start of the program. Late seating will not be permitted 20 minutes after the program begins. Metro accessible on the Yellow and Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station.

The next in the series of Nixon legacy forums will examine the decades-long effort to unseal the secret report the Watergate grand jury submitted to the House Judiciary Committee on March 1, 1974, and is said to have paved the evidentiary path leading to President Nixon鈥檚 impeachment (hence the 鈥淩oad Map鈥� nickname). Unsealed by judicial order on October 11, 2018, many believe this was the most significant archival development in Watergate since President Nixon鈥檚 resignation 45 years ago. Presenting the discussion will be Geoff Shepard, former member of President Nixon鈥檚 Watergate defense team, and Professor Luke Nichter, who has published two books on the Nixon White House tapes.

Nixon Legacy Forums focus on policy initiatives of the Nixon administration and feature discussions among administration members who worked on them鈥攁nd helped create the documents and other materials now available to scholars and researchers at the Richard Nixon Library. More . View past .
