The Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Subcommittee is a unique collaboration of more than a dozen Federal agencies that support Research and Development (R&D) activities in the Federal government. In coordination with the NITRD Subcommittee, NARA has established partnerships with world-class computer scientists, engineers, and information management professionals, conducting and supporting empirical research with archives, universities, Federal agencies, and public and private sector industry experts.

The Applied Research team works with our Research Partners to leverage new theories, knowledge, methods and techniques to advance our knowledge about the lifecycle of electronic records. Research projects focus on identifying, exploring, and evaluating new developments in computer science and related fields that are likely to impact the lifecycle management of records and improve NARA鈥檚 services to its customers.

NARA鈥檚 Current Applied Research Partners Include:

Georgia Tech Research Institute, Georgia Institute of Technology
National Center for Supercomputing Applications, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Texas Advanced Computing Center, University of Texas at Austin
Renaissance Computing Institute, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
