Lemuel Shaw听(1781 鈥�1861) was an听American听jurist who served as Chief Justice of the听Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court听(1830鈥�1860). Prior to his appointment he also served for several years in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and as a state senator. This edition includes the papers (1648鈥�1923) of the eminent Massachusetts lawyer, legislator, and jurist (1781鈥�1861). 听The edition also includes family papers, correspondence, legal papers, diaries, account books, and notebooks of the Savage, Cargill, Hayward, Knapp, Craigie, Melville, and Shaw families.
