William Rufus Shafter听(1835 鈥�1906) was a听Union Army officer during the听American Civil War听who received America's highest military decoration, the听Medal of Honor, for his actions at the听Battle of Fair Oaks. This edition includes correspondence, military papers, and other items pertaining to General Shafter鈥檚 post-Civil War campaigns against Native Americans, Mexican bandits, and against the Spanish in 1898.
