A selective edition of the letters of Louis Dembitz Brandeis听(1856听鈥� 1941), associate justice听on the听Supreme Court of the United States听from 1916 to 1939. Brandeis was the first Jew to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. His decisions affirmed individual liberty and privacy and opposed unchecked governmental power.听He graduated from Harvard Law School at the age of 20, and quickly became known as "the people鈥檚 lawyer" for fighting for workers' rights and breaking up monopolies. President Woodrow Wilson appointed him to the Supreme Court in 1916, and his decisions affirmed individual liberty and opposed unchecked governmental power. The NHPRC also funded a microfilm edition, 184 reels, 104-page guide.
